btw im not judging at all— love the ship and the art and the dynamic, just curious as to the origins

gliyero but it's just a jay gatsby esque peacock show of Doing Things until they can earn elphaba's attention. this spans across the years so some of the things are dancing and dressing up and generally Looking Pretty and then the other things are like war crimes bc anything for her lovely wicked witch of the west's attention

If there is some confusion about "which times it's ok for Katara to be a healer" and "which ones are not", there's a simple differentiation - moments when she offers to do individual acts of healing feel like realistic choices, they are individual acts. The incongruency is between her insisting during the series that she doesn't want to be a healer but instead to be a warrior, and then somehow ending up as a healer with no big achievements in life after the war.
I'm not saying it's absolutely impossible to write any character as changing their opinion through life, but the thing is - no writing has actually been done for that for her, plus it's a super sharp contrast to her very solid characterization as a fighter during the entire series. It's understandable why it would not be liked by a large number of people with whom her original character resonated.

OK, so we all kinda joke about that "monster." In Harry Stomach, That jkr writes about to describe Harry's "Jealousy" when he sees Ginny kissing Dean (literally wanting to rip Dean's Throat out or something along the lines.)
(It's been a hot second since I've read that part.)
which I find interesting because I used to headcannon Harry as being bi, but ever since I read (hollowed-theory-hall) article on his Sexuality I can only ever see him as gay....headcanon what ever you want though obviously.
But like it's also described as "swelling with pride" or "wanting to puff out its chest" or "Curling up in his stomach and purring in Content/Satisfaction"
Like, jkr be so fucking for real wtf 😐
BBUUUUUUTTT, hear me out......Dormant creature gene?
Like you can't tell me that it doesn't read as instincts or some shit without or even with context, or you can tell me it doesn't read that way. Your opinion is valid and something I value.
And if you are inclined to indulge me. What sort of creature gene do you believe he would have?
Dark fae? cù-sìth? Harpy? cat-sìth? Maybe, dear Tommy gave Harry some varey mild Naga genes along with parseltongue.
Who "knows"..heheh...get it?..like "nose".....i'll see myself out now..🏃‍♀️‍➡️...like his nose, lol..
Anyway, sorry for making this so long. Have a lovely day, stay safe and drink some water 🥰
girl i hate creature fics and I conversely wish they were more popular so they weren't so pigeonholed into some of my most detested HP fic tropes. There has never been a worse tree to bark up
I also hate anything that posits Harry is somehow a special little guy with a specialboy background, so this is a stacked loathing. The impulse to make a character innately ascendant in their qualities regardless of the themes practically beating you to death with hammers about how the entire point of the story is that Voldemort chose someone ordinary who used the things Voldemort demeaned as banal to defeat him. Every atom of my being rejects the impulse to go "actually, but he was extra special this whole time?"
It also grates to make Voldemort innately special, because his problem is that he refuses to believe he is a regular mortal man in a long timeline of extreme hubris, and his snake-like visage - which is expressed as a sort of a manifestation of his villainous progress in the dark arts - is both symbolically satisfying to him and a self-inflicted wound, which we see culminated in his horrible babymunculus body. He would adore having naga blood, he'd never let it go; we see what being a parselmouth did to him, we see what it did to the Gaunts in general. The viewpoint required to want to give him this would leave his hubris kind of dangling in the air unresolved, making him a very bland character and leave less windows open into his flaws as, you know, a right-wing extremist and vainglorious dictator.
Which is to say I personally believe the beast swelling inside Harry was his horcrux forcing him to experience what it felt like to be notorious bpd princess Tom Riddle at 16, a thought I would love to ruminate on at length

Are Mutants Ever Safe?
*Spoilers ahead for "X-Men '97" and "Deadpool & Wolverine"*
Over the years, we've seen the plight of the X-Men in the Marvel universe, how they deal with prejudice from the human race but still continue to fight for peace and acceptance. There's a line in "Deadpool & Wolverine" (which is said to be the start of mutants entering the MCU) that I've actually been thinking about quite a bit.
At one point, Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and a variant of Logan (Wolverine) are brought to a compound within the Void, led by Cassandra Nova, the sister of none other than Charles Xavier. She mentions how the TVA sent her into the void at a very young age, and that she didn't have someone like Charles to teach her restraint. She then asks Logan about his Charles, if the good professor protected him and kept him safe. To which Logan responds:
"We're mutants, we're never safe."
I'll admit, when I first heard that line, it struck a chord with me. I've known about the X-Men for a long time, and that single line sums up one of their biggest struggles, especially when looking at their history. Sure, mutants have been able to make homes for themselves. Whether it's Xavier's school, Genosha, Krakoa, and many other places where mutants could be "safe". Sooner or later though, dangerous threats will come knocking at their door, and mutants will end up getting hurt, or worse.
We've seen it before. In "X-2: X-Men United", government forces end up raiding the mansion. In Grant Morrison's X-Men comic series (and recently in X-Men '97) we saw the tri-sentinel attack Genosha, killing thousands of mutants. While Krakoa seemed like a promising home with a bright future for all mutants, things fell apart in the end. Even the Wolverine variant in the recent movie failed to stop his teammates from being massacred. Try as they might, and no matter where they go, mutants might never be safe from the various threats that target them.
And yet, despite all of that, these individuals and groups with extraordinary abilities continue to persevere and fight. Why? Because they have each other. The camaraderie they share with one another, the familial bonds they form, and the relationships they gain, makes wherever they go feel like a home. When whatever dangerous threat does come at them, win or lose they'll always stand and be ready to fight to protect that safe place. Through compassion, they can help those in need, and remind them that no matter what, they'll always have a place where they can at least feel safe.
Yes, this Logan variant did let down his entire world, but the adventure he goes on, and the oddball friendship he forms with Deadpool, teaches him to let go of his painful mistakes and be a true hero, an X-Man (no, scratch that, THE X-Man). By the end, out of generosity, Wade Wilson decides to invite Logan into his apartment, giving him a place to stay, and introducing him to his friends (and of course, having Laura Kinney, X-23, join in as well). In that moment, he's come to a place where he can feel safe.
So, are mutants ever safe? Maybe, maybe not. But when you think about it, the location doesn't really matter. When one is surrounded by a community of others like them, supporting one another through thick and thin, then they are about as safe as they'll ever be. That's what matters in the end.

NOT HATE MAIL GENUINE QUESTION I JUST WORD THINGS WEIRD /GEN
do apl folk choose not to have friends? is it like the same spec of repulsed, neutral, open as aspec/arospec where some are repulsed by friendship, but others are neutral or open to it?? im so so sorry if these come off as rude, i love my friends very much so the idea of being aplatonic confuses me so i want to understand
yeah pretty much, some apl people hate the idea pf having friends, some are fine with it, and others (like me) like having friends! theres a lot in between those as well, its very similar to aro and ace.

Hello, I’m curious, i always see people talking about their favourite DNPG video but what is your least favourite DNPG video?
my least favourite dapg video will become it takes two part 1 if they never finish it 💅 (jokes)
but for real? if we're talking recent: the brothers game video. god,, the editing on that makes it unwatchable for me. genuinely i cannot go back to it. which is so disappointing cause you'd think it'd be like the first it takes two vid. but it isn't. all it does is make me wish i was watching it takes two instead.
honestly i generally don't dislike content they make--i'm a fan of the bants and theyre pretty good at banting, and especially before editors were doing the cuts, dnp were very good at crafting their videos to be entertaining even if you weren't a fan of the game/they weren't very good at the game (although the minecraft video was painful). the reason i even hate the brothers video so much is because the editing completely takes the joy out of the experience, and that's why i don't like it. if a joke doesn't land for someone, that's fine cause humour is subjective. but if you badly cut something together, it's a production error that can be critiqued and improved on. there's measurable quality issues there.
are there mid videos? sure! are there ones i don't go back to after watching? absolutely. but there's few that i would actively label as dislike and further hate.
i'll also be honest and say that i'm not super familiar with a lot of the older content on dapg--sometimes the 'bro' energy is too much and i can't do it.

i will say that out of all this the most unexpected thing is the actor of the LI seemingly being the person to actually want to approach the relationship with so much care and consideration of fans. didn’t have that on my bingo card can’t lie.

If you want to, 18, 23, and 27 for the ask game!
27. Your favorite part of the writing process
Honestly? Daydreaming. I like thinking about the story much more than actually writing it down.
23. Pick three keywords that describe your writing
Earnest, silly, and hopeful
18. If you keep them, share a deleted sentence or paragraph from a published fic
I went looking and found this. I wrote it ages and ages ago, but I think it was initially intended as an opener for like, chapter 8. (It was labeled as an opener for chapter 5, so that's how badly I misjudge how long plot points will take.) I might still use it at some point, but I probably won't tbh

Emmet returned to the Barracks to find Ingo collapsed face down on the floor, under a blanket of spiders.
Oh Maker, was he dead? Did he wind down again? He was supposed to ask Emmet when he needed help not-
“Good afternoon, Emmet!” Ingo called out cheerfully, immobile under the fuzzy hoard. He was fine then. Probably.
“Are you okay?”
“Never better!”
